ETC 2012 Silent Charity Auction

This year's Silent Charity Auction offered ETC attendees a tempting choice of items ranging from tour packages to handicrafts and lavish gift baskets. All proceeds went to support ETC's Responsible Tourism Showcase. Not only did these donations benefit a good cause, but they provided a great opportunity to showcase one's company, institution, or destination in a meaningful way at ETC 2012.

Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld Atrium

ETC 2012 attendees raved about:
  • the hotel's easy-to-navigate meeting rooms
  • the ideal International Bazaar space
  • the superb networking venues
  • the fun-filled social events
  • the "sublimely helpful and attentive staff" (to quote an attendee)
  • and, of course, the tropical location!

26th Annual Educational Travel Conference was the Best in the Past 20 Years!

From January 19 to 22, 2012, the newly-refurbished Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld opened its doors to ETC attendees for a conference that boasted a rich smorgasbord of seminars, speakers, plenary sessions, and intense networking.

Some highlights:
  • The number of delegates in 2012 exceeded that of 2011, with the hotel block blown out. In fact, ETC was in a waitlist status two months prior, with 200 rooms booked over and above the initial block!

  • More travel planners attended than in the previous three years—30% more than in 2011 alone—with growth partially attributable to the new Travel Planner Forum, which addressed the relevance and positioning of travel programs for the future.

  • Travel Learning "Connect" meetings featured an unprecedented number of 1192 "Connects" meetings requested (more than 55% over 2011), and over 200% more meetings than in 2011 confirmed.

  • Sponsorships were especially strong, with all venues 100% sold out.
Along the way, there was a succession of wonderful hosted luncheons and dinners, including an evening at SeaWorld, complete with penguins, a sea lion, a fish eagle, and a macaw as surprise guests.
